Isn't it strange tha they do that? Do other birds do that too? The Cormorant is the only one I've ever seen to do it. I love the muted tones you have in this image, Peter. The light feels perhaps melancholy (to me).

@San G.: Hi Sandy!
I guess the reason to the cormorants behavior relates to the fact that it can "fly" under water. This is just a theory. It´s fascinating to see them dive into the water, disappear and resurface several meters from where they hit the surface.
Glad you like the image.
Terrific image, Peter. The Cormorant adds just the right touch. Along with Brown Pelicans, Cormorants are getting sick and dying in growing numbers here in Southern California. Experts are trying to find the cause before it's too late.

@Suzanne: Thanks a lot Suzanne. It makes me sad to read abut the cormorants and the pelicans. I suspect that it´s us humans that cause the problems. Here in Sweden there are no such problems, in many fisher-mens opinion there are too many cormorants. They hate the bird, it usually steals fish from their nets and at the same time ruins the nets.
the skarvar is drying! I saw on wikipedia that the wings take the water to help him to go deeper in the sea.
Thank you for your help, I had never realise that whose birds where here!
