Black-headed Gull in winter dressPosted by PeterFH (Gothenburg, Sweden) on 29 December 2008 in Animal & Insect. In the winter the black head changes to white with black streaks. Wikipedia writes: This is a noisy species, especially at colonies, with a familiar "kree-ar" call. Its scientific name means "Laughing Gull". The Black-headed Gull is the prefectural bird of Tokyo and the Yurikamome mass transit system is named after it. Thanks for visiting.
